A letter to the author. Please say what you liked about the novel, with specific examples. If you did not like something, write your criticism with tact and be constructive. Spelling test, Unit 6.
First correct the exercises. Then the test.
After grading, we will cut the points for the exercises in half. Each word on the test will be worth a full 1 point. That means total score for exercises and test will be 45 points. This is a big one!

QW: How did I do this week in English? A self-reflection.
It has been a busy week. Please think about your work on The Adventure of the Speckled Band and the Mystery Novel Project. Did the tasks come more easily to you? What about the character studies or plot diagrams made more sense, or did not make more sense? Have you thought about your biography, who you will look for? Have you considered what did or did not work for you regarding the mystery novel you read?

Essay Day 3. Handout, brief discussion.
Checked in spelling demons in notebook, for a stamp, worth 10 points.
Models.

Where is your library card or your signature?

About Me

Sebastopol, CA
After many years as a newspaper reporter and writer, a job that I was lucky enough to love, I got my English teaching credential, hoping to pass on to kids how to find their unique voice and clearly communicate what they think and feel. Public school educated in Philadelphia, college in New York City (Barnard College), transferred to and graduated from UC Berkeley in English and received a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University. Yay, my son, my student in 8th grade, is now a Cal alumni, too, a 2017 graduate with a degree in computer science, now working at Google (You Tube) as a product manager. William Faulkner is one of my favorite writers, as well as Anne Lamott, Langston Hughes and many of the nighttime, satirical comedy shows. On my top bookshelf sit Nobel Prize winning writers Toni Morrison and Orhan Pamuk, along with friends who have won Pulitzer Prizes in journalism, who started writing in junior high or in writing groups in Sonoma County. Go public education in California!
