Finish Twilight Zone response? Need more time for last question?
Start work on A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens.
Listening, reading and exercises. Reading Stave 1 today, Marley's Ghost. Handouts.
HW: Tues: Finish reading Stave 1. Fill in as much as you can on the plot diagram. What is the conflict? Who are the characters? What is the setting? Name at least two events in rising action. Be prepared to briefly summarize what happened in Stave 1.
Thurs: Mugshot

ENGLISH 8  
1. Finish: Finish reading, annotating  and worksheets, Chapter 2.
Use the graphic model you used for Chapter 1. Fill in same areas for Chapter 2.
And write:
2. QW: “It’s not good to want a thing too much. It drives the luck away.” (In the middle of Chapter 2)
React, respond, explore--in writing , at least one full page.
3. Complete worksheets for Chapter 1& 2. We will discuss. You may work with one partner only, but each of you must fill out the questions on your own worksheet.
HW: Tues: Finish Chapter 1 & 2 questions.  Not  Chapter 3, yet.

After many years as a newspaper reporter and writer, a job that I was lucky enough to love, I got my English teaching credential, hoping to pass on to kids how to find their unique voice and clearly communicate what they think and feel. Public school educated in Philadelphia, college in New York City (Barnard College), transferred to and graduated from UC Berkeley in English and received a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University. Yay, my son, my student in 8th grade, is now a Cal alumni, too, a 2017 graduate with a degree in computer science, now working at Google (You Tube) as a product manager. William Faulkner is one of my favorite writers, as well as Anne Lamott, Langston Hughes and many of the nighttime, satirical comedy shows. On my top bookshelf sit Nobel Prize winning writers Toni Morrison and Orhan Pamuk, along with friends who have won Pulitzer Prizes in journalism, who started writing in junior high or in writing groups in Sonoma County. Go public education in California!
