QW: On stereotypes. A stereotype is an oversimplified image or belief of a certain person or group or family usually held in common by some part of society. Categorizing things or people is a natural human inclination. However, people often make assumptions about groups of people they don't even know.

Do you or members of your family hold any views that stereotype others? How can stereotypes be harmful to both the believer and the victim? Why do you think stereotypes develop? How can they be eliminated?
