Diagnostic Writing Assignment, a writing sample based on the story.  RD due Wednesday. “Seventh Grade,” by Gary Soto, p. 116 in your lit textbook.

Background to the story -- “Seventh Grade” is set in Fresno, Soto grew up, a farming community with dry, hot summers and cool, humid winters. A large number of Latinos, whose families are originally from Spanish-speaking countries, work in Fresno’s vineyards.

HW: Tues: Complete reading and annotate “Seventh Grade.”

Weds: Rough Draft--Diagnostic Writing --Me in 7th Grade; Planners checked

Thurs: Final draft, typed, Diagnostic Writing assignment. Back-to-School Night for parents

Fri: Spelling quiz and homework, Unit 1. Exercises 1-20 on p. 15. Then, a quiz on all the words in Unit 1.
