Two late passes for 2nd quarter.
Mug check in and review


Paragraph work, p. 4 in packet
Let’s review. In chromebooks, create a folder and call it “paragraph work.”
In that folder, create a document and title it: compare/contrast paragraphs.
Now, choose four of the topics on p. 4 of your packet and write a paragraph for each.
We will share these when completed.
When finish, do the extension at the bottom of p. 4. Finish for homework if not in class. In your compare/contrast document


HW: Friday: Spelling, Week 9; finish extension on p. 4 of paragraph packet. Make sure it is done in your folder and on the document you titled: “compare/contrast.”

ENGLISH 8

Returning papers. Check your file for other work on The Hunger Games if you want to review it. Why file? Do you know it all?

Reviewing Monday homework. Using answer key, working with your deskmate, review your questions/answers, Chs 22-Ch. 26


Exploring irony in The Hunger Games. Work with one partner. Review your literary terms worksheet you got at the beginning of the unit on The Hunger Games.


HW: Fri: Final, multiple choice test The Hunger Games
Mon: Biography book, in hand

Thurs: Final Project due.

After many years as a newspaper reporter and writer, a job that I was lucky enough to love, I got my English teaching credential, hoping to pass on to kids how to find their unique voice and clearly communicate what they think and feel. Public school educated in Philadelphia, college in New York City (Barnard College), transferred to and graduated from UC Berkeley in English and received a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University. Yay, my son, my student in 8th grade, is now a Cal alumni, too, a 2017 graduate with a degree in computer science, now working at Google (You Tube) as a product manager. William Faulkner is one of my favorite writers, as well as Anne Lamott, Langston Hughes and many of the nighttime, satirical comedy shows. On my top bookshelf sit Nobel Prize winning writers Toni Morrison and Orhan Pamuk, along with friends who have won Pulitzer Prizes in journalism, who started writing in junior high or in writing groups in Sonoma County. Go public education in California!
