Got notebooks back. Reviewed quick write guidelines.QW: There is a lot of discussion about best friends in these chapters of The Giver.
What makes a friend your best friend? Use your answer and decide and write whether you think Jonas and Asher really were best friends. Explain. Fill at least one-half of a page in your notebooks. Write in pen. Date and write the prompt.
HW: Fri: Vocab Set 3 and quiz on Set 3. Ready for quiz.
Mon: Read Chapters 19 & 20. Fill out reading guide questions.(Not many of them!)
ENGLISH 8
Finished the movie review. In google docs/Chromebooks. I will take care of printing. Look over rubric for your review--leave rubric on your desk with your name.
When (if) finished--
In notebooks, FIRST write and respond to the following prompt:
What is intelligence? Can a person ever be too smart? What is meant by the saying “ignorance is bliss?”
Respond to it. You are required to write at least one page in your notebook, single-spaced, complete sentences and thoughtful! (This will be checked.)
Classwork finish for homework-Read in literature textbooks, “Flowers For Algernon,” p. 182. A classic tale of a mentally challenged man who is part of a scientific experiment (has an operation) to triple his intelligence. The story chronicles the journey that he takes as his intelligence progresses and regresses.
(Make sure to first read the introduction to the story on p. 180. Homework is to finish reading the story.)
