ENGLISH 7
  • From the  “Justin Lebo” story on p. 300 in the lit textbook. In your notebook, answered questions 1 and 5 on p. 305. Complete sentences are required.
  • Filled out the rubric for notebook and handed in.
  • Turned in completed Paragraph Packet # 2.
  • Read two poems: The Walk on p. 299 and The Rider on p. 306, remembering what we discussed on Monday about the third-person omniscient point of view.  
  • In literature textbooks, on p. 307, responded to Qs 1, 2, 4, 5, 6  & 7. On a separate piece of paper to hand in.  
Please bring in money for The Circuit.
Roan, Daphne, Isabella & Kylie -- On return please turn in notebook and fill out form!

HW: Weds: Planner Check. Finish questions in lit textbook on p. 307 if not done in class. In literature textbooks, on p. 307, respond to Qs 1, 2, 4, 5, 6  & 7. On a separate piece of paper to hand in.  
Thurs: Mugs and quiz
Fri: Spelling Week 8 exercises p. 45, 1-20. And quiz on those words.

ENGLISH 8
Reviewed and handed in worksheets on figures of speech and characterization of Katniss.

Completed quiz on Chapters 10 through 15.

HW: Weds: Final Draft Demons project.
Thurs: Test on words, Demons Project

Fri.: Read Chapters 16 through Chapter 22.

After many years as a newspaper reporter and writer, a job that I was lucky enough to love, I got my English teaching credential, hoping to pass on to kids how to find their unique voice and clearly communicate what they think and feel. Public school educated in Philadelphia, college in New York City (Barnard College), transferred to and graduated from UC Berkeley in English and received a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University. Yay, my son, my student in 8th grade, is now a Cal alumni, too, a 2017 graduate with a degree in computer science, now working at Google (You Tube) as a product manager. William Faulkner is one of my favorite writers, as well as Anne Lamott, Langston Hughes and many of the nighttime, satirical comedy shows. On my top bookshelf sit Nobel Prize winning writers Toni Morrison and Orhan Pamuk, along with friends who have won Pulitzer Prizes in journalism, who started writing in junior high or in writing groups in Sonoma County. Go public education in California!
