Quarter Two Begins Today!
ENGLISH 7
Handout- “The Circuit” note to parents
Hand in novel projects.

QW: Write for a few minutes about how you think you did on the novel project.
Among the things you could consider:
How long it took you to complete the final project; did the rough drafts help? Did you use them? Would you start earlier next time? Was it just the right amount of time?  And any other points you would like to make.

Discuss -- points of view in literature. Reference, in lit textbooks, we will read together, p. 289, “literary analysis.”
Then, in literature textbooks, read “Justin Lebo” by Phillip Hoose on p. 300.
When finished, can work on paragraph packet, mugs, spelling. English work only!

HW: Tues: Complete Paragraph Packet #2. Only need to find 2 paragraphs for the extension. Find them anywhere!
Weds: Planner Check
Thurs: Mugs and quiz
Fri: Spelling Week 8, exercises p. 45, 1-20 .

Worktime.
Finish Figures of Speech worksheet. Hand in.
Complete Characterization, Decoding Katniss worksheet.Hand in.

HW: Tues:  Complete reading through Chapter 15. (Chapters 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 & 15)
Weds: Final Draft Demons project
Thurs: Test on words, Demons Project

Fri: Read Chapters 16 through 22.

After many years as a newspaper reporter and writer, a job that I was lucky enough to love, I got my English teaching credential, hoping to pass on to kids how to find their unique voice and clearly communicate what they think and feel. Public school educated in Philadelphia, college in New York City (Barnard College), transferred to and graduated from UC Berkeley in English and received a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University. Yay, my son, my student in 8th grade, is now a Cal alumni, too, a 2017 graduate with a degree in computer science, now working at Google (You Tube) as a product manager. William Faulkner is one of my favorite writers, as well as Anne Lamott, Langston Hughes and many of the nighttime, satirical comedy shows. On my top bookshelf sit Nobel Prize winning writers Toni Morrison and Orhan Pamuk, along with friends who have won Pulitzer Prizes in journalism, who started writing in junior high or in writing groups in Sonoma County. Go public education in California!
